F.P.F.

  • FPF is designed to equip students to confidently discuss money issues and plan for their own financial future. Students will learn how to avoid debt, develop a monthly budget and discover the power of savings and Compound interest. Being an informed consumer, home ownership, the role of insurance and the importance of having an emergency fund are also central to the course. Additionally, we will help students identify and strengthen critical work skills and provide them with sound financial principles that will guide them into adulthood.

                                                                                                                           Prerequisite: Grades 11 & 12

Important Considerations

  • You will enjoy this class more than you might think! It's real life and will get you thinking. You you will use what you learn in this class. Keep in mind that we use materials designed for public school use by the organization founded by nationally syndicated radio host and financial expert Dave Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey is financially very conservative and will encourage you to avoid debt at all costs. Both Dave and I will advise you to handle your current and future finances in a specific way. This teaching however, is meant to be a guideline and should not be used in any way to disrespect parents and how they might view money and its role in their lives. We strongly encourage you to discuss financial issues with your parents but don't ever tell them how to spend their money! KIDS...This is sound advice:)

Book Assignment #1

  • Our first quarter book will be The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. Books will be handed out on Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4th. Books will be read in class. Plan to read at least 1 chapter a week. They are short and engaging. Answer the reflection questions at the end of each chapter in Google Classroom. The final book "application" packet will be due on the last Friday of October.
