Hamilton School District and our HHS Band are honored to host the US Air Force Concert Band & Singing Sergeants in the Hamilton High School PAC on Wed, Oct 21 at 7PM! Our HSD3 superintendent Dave Thennis and Corvallis superintendent Pete Joseph had a friendly competition to see which district could get the most participants and volunteers to sign-up for Robert's Run in August. Hamilton came out on top! Pete was a good sport and joined Dave in last week's fair parade wearing BRONC gear! Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the Play Like Robert Foundation as they continue to fund important projects for the schools in our valley! Go Broncs! #PlayLikeRobert

Washington Primary Families: Don't forget that the 1st meeting of the Washington Families for Education will be TOMORROW (Wed, Sept 9) @ 12PM in the school library. Families for Education does so much to support our school, students and staff! It's a really great opportunity to volunteer to make a difference in our school!

Spanish Club and other Spanish students from Hamilton High School joined Mrs. Marlatt (HHS) and Mrs. Bloomingdale (Washington Primary) in their first collaboration to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity. April 23rd is United Nations Spanish Language Day (Día del Idioma Español), and April 30 is celebrated annually as Día del Niño (Day of the Child) in Mexico & as El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros (Children's Day/Book Day) in the US, honoring children and fostering a love for literacy. In recognition of these 2 days, over 20 high school students volunteered to visit Washington Primary School classes to teach colors, numbers, and animals. The students participated in 20 minute workshops that included simple instruction in Spanish, then tested their retention with games. Students who learned colors played a version of red light green light; students who learned how to count to ten got to count out baby goldfish; and students who learned animals also learned what sounds they make in Spanish and how they are different. Did you know the sound that birds make in Spanish isn't chirp or tweet? It's pio, pio. For more Spanish fun, try looking up children's songs on YouTube. Super Simple Espanol has a great collection of songs that will get stuck in their head and yours! Thank you to everyone who made this visit possible, and hopefully we can do many more in the future!
