Another update from Coach Wintersteen:
The Envirothon team got back to Hamilton late Saturday night after a week of learning and competing in Geneva, NY! The trip included 1 fun day in Niagara Falls, and we had a blast. The team completed tests in the areas of forestry, soils & land use, wildlife, aquatic ecology, and renewable energy, as well as created a 20 minute oral presentation from scratch on a given scenario and presented to a panel of judges. Overall, the team placed #26 out of 49 teams from across the US, Canada, China, and Singapore. We are so proud of them and all their hard work!

Dear Hamilton Middle School Parents:
We are experiencing technical issues with Infinite Campus student schedules. The HMS staff is working diligently to get the schedules completed. We respectfully request that you do not call the HMS office to ask about schedules. We will post here when schedules are available. Please note that this will take some time. Do not worry about elective school supplies at this time. Thank you so much for your patience!

Bronc Team Captain, Chloe Greek, representing our great state at the opening ceremony at the International Envirothon Competition.

Here's an update from Coach Wintersteen on the Envirothon team's trip to NY for the international competition:
Fun first day at the international competition! The team registered and visited the career fair, did some studying, participated in the opening ceremony, and then traded lots of Montana t-shirts and other items with teams from all across the US, Canada, China, and Singapore. Tomorrow is training day, and then the competition will begin!

Congrats to the HHS volleyball team on winning the Carlton Classic tournament in Florence today.! Go Broncs!

GOOD LUCK to our Envirothon team as they head to the weeklong international competition in Geneva, New York on Saturday July 27!!
Earlier this week, the team (plus an alternate) went on a whirlwind field trip around Montana looking at different energy sources. Since this year’s competition theme is alternative energy, this gave the students a chance to learn as much as possible about all kinds of energy and the resources & considerations needed for each type.
On the first day of the trip, they visited Hungry Horse Dam for a tour of the dam. The next morning, they took a walking tour around Mad Wolf Ranch and learned about hydrology & natural resource considerations for rangeland. After that, they traveled to Fairfield for a unique look at the Fairfield & Greenfield wind operations. They even got to see inside a turbine and check out the size of the giant blades on the ground. On the final day, they learned about the use of geothermal energy at Boulder Hot Springs and the mining history & current practices at the Berkeley Pit. The Envirothon team logged 750 miles over 3 days, putting in tremendous effort to learn about a variety of energy resources in Montana. The students asked fantastic questions and even studied in their free time. The team has been fundraising throughout the spring to pay for this field trip and their travel to New York. Thank you to all who have generously supported the program!! Go Broncs!
The students who will be traveling to New York for the international Envirothon competition are: Chloe Greek, Taylor Bratvold, Kinga Kari, Payton Torres, and Taylor Rosenberger. The alternate, Ashlynn Cross, joined the team for the preparation field trip.
