Congratulations to the HHS Track & Field team for their GREAT performance at state. Here is a recap and results from Coach Jessop:
Dear Parents and Supporters of Hamilton High Track & Field,
What a wrap up to a great season! At the state meet, our Hamilton athletes represented our school and community with fierce competition and utmost class. The girls team earned the 3rd place trophy! The one Bronc athlete that made the top of the podium as individual state champion was Gracie Werst. In her final shot put throw of the year, she bested all competitors and set a new school record by two feet...42' 5"! Other highlights were everywhere for the Broncs. It was a pleasure to end our season with such excellent marks. I cannot emphasize enough the depth of pride and admiration I have for each and every one of our athletes, the entire team. I have been impressed with the level of dedication and GRIT that I have witnessed this season, from beginning to end.
Track and field, in its very nature, is a “delayed gratification” activity. Our Hamilton athletes work all season, endure poor weather practices and meets, face their demons daily, and then gain the reward in the end. That reward may be a trophy, a state champion’s medal, or a simple personal record. It has been a season worth remembering.
I would also express my gratitude and admiration for our coaches: Chris Jessop, Lakyn Bauder, Kathy Weston (with her ‘sidekick’ Steve), Don Berglund, and Mike Jessop. These people have dedicated countless hours of helping our athletes achieve life-long lessons, using track and field as the classroom.
-Coach Jessop
