On April 20, 2026, Hamilton Middle School will be working with local Emergency Services to conduct a simulated emergency drill. This date is a Professional Development day for teachers and is a no school day for students. To make this drill a meaningful exercise for all parties involved, we are seeking the assistance of approximately 100 middle school students and their parents/guardians. A primary focus of this exercise will be the relocation of students to an offsite location, followed by the reunification of these students with their families. If you and your child/children are willing to participate in this drill, please contact the HMS office at 406-363-2121.
Please see the below graphic for a timeline and for more details for the April 20th drill.
This exercise is part of Hamilton School District’s ongoing efforts to keep Hamilton Schools a safe learning environment for our students and to better prepare our staff and students for emergency situations.
We appreciate your ongoing support and partnership with Hamilton Schools!

HHS tennis update from Coach Dufresne:
Your Hamilton Bronc tennis team battled intervalley rival Corvallis last Thursday, and what a day of tennis it was.
The girls varsity team won 4-3. Returning state champion Ciara Hanley won 6-1, 6-1 to secure our only singles victory, but wins & losses do not tell the entire story. Lily Monaco, Kiera Judy, & Bryn Cianflone played their hearts out while losing to a really strong, really deep Corvallis singles group. Charlie Holmes/Codie Clarke had a hard fought 6-4, 6-4 win as doubles #1. Alexis Anson/Kari Hattlestad won in straight sets at doubles #2, and Jasmine Jimenez/Aniston Martz won in straight sets to secure the girls' team victory.
The Hamilton boys lost 0-7, but 4 of the losses came in super close tie-breakers determined in the 3rd set, meaning a point here & a point there, and we could have won the duel. Jackson Kirkbride/James Tossberg battled valiantly after losing the 1st set to force a 3rd before falling short in a match that lasted 2.5 hours! Simon Nadl/Greyson Weber also overcame a 1st set deficit to force a 3rd. Cash Hawkes had a great day at singles #1, bouncing back from a tough 6-7 1st set to win the second set 6-1, before succumbing to his opponent in the 3rd set, and Julio Nolte also lost in a 3rd set. Other matches saw Jayce Strain tussle with an experienced senior player from Corvallis, Brayden Duce/Oliver Simpkins drop a rough 1st set only to battle tooth & nail for a 4-6 loss in the 2nd, and Micah Strain gave his all in his 1st varsity match. While the team scores aren't what we had hoped for, the team remains confident in the path ahead.
At the Westview courts, 22 JV matches were played as “fast fours”, as the JV team played well after the varsity had finished. Doubles wins came for Ellie Hattlestad/Josie Wolfe, Rhain Hollingsworth/Hannah Clifton, Tim Sigloch/Otto Gantz, Camilla Molina/Rhain Hollingsworth, Garren Gunderson/Zeph Crawley. In singles, Artem Akopyan, Elena Embleton, Otto Gantz, Tim Sigloch & Camilla Molina won matches. And while our society loves to focus on wins, so many players did so well on the losing end & found joy in competition. Lila Dufresne & Jordin Jones both battled in singles. Jorja Duerr & Avery Dowdy continued their effort as a really solid doubles team. Other players, Paisley Hamilton, Ryder Rodriguez, Estella Sosa, Alyvia Melton, Sashi Sokol, Peyton Boggs, & Kaylee Stewart battled valiantly, because in the end, the 1st step to success is being willing to take a risk and being willing to deal with setbacks.
There was an electricity in the air for these matches, and a whole lot of nerves. Tennis is a wildly mental sport. In no other sport do you make as many mistakes as you do in tennis. The reality is that, in tennis, you usually play well over 100 points in a match, and the points are usually decided by a player’s mistake, not a player’s winner. That means our athletes are on the court making mistake after mistake after mistake, sometimes for hours, and asked to battle through. It’s funny really, the same thing these student-athletes crave, a chance to compete at a high level, is the same thing that causes their nerves to be rattled in the moment, a chance to compete at high level. I was really proud of the team. Chins up, determination etched on their faces, in wins & losses, they just kept fighting. In the end, that’s all you can do. Can’t wait for the next match against Corvallis and to watch this team grow the rest of the season.
Next up, a home JV match against Loyola on Monday (April 13) at 3:30. Come check it out!

Here is an update from Coach Dufresne on the start to the HHS tennis season:
Tennis season has begun! With 55 student athletes hitting the courts this year, including a returning state champion, players who have worked hard this off offseason seeking deep state runs, players coming off injury, players hoping to make state, players hoping to make the varsity squad, & players swinging a racquet for the first time hoping they belong, and players just hoping to find joy. I am excited for the opportunity to yet again coach a great group of student athletes. The first few weeks are always a blur. Here is a recap of the first few matches.
3/27 vs. Polson & Libby: We were (shockingly) lucky to have reasonable weather for the 1st match of the season in Polson. Note, it often gets cancelled. The 1st match of the season is always a breath of fresh air, like taking a 1st step down a path to be traveled together where the destination is joy & camaraderie.
3/28: We hosted Dillon & Ronan on Saturday on what is among the finest facilities in the state with our new courts. As it was the start of spring break, all 3 squads were short players, though in many ways, it worked out because players who are working hard for court time get a chance to lace ‘em up & have some fun. Nervous excitement bubbled from all 3 teams.
4/7: The team traveled to Anaconda where we were NOT treated to nice weather. What at times seemed like hurricane speed wind gusts made play difficult. To the players' credit, they didn’t flinch, even those players experiencing the joy (and stress) of tennis for the 1st time.
As with any sporting event, there were great wins & tough losses, as well as tough wins and great losses.
But as it is the start of the season, instead of focusing on wins & losses, I would rather focus on the great group of student athletes (and manager) who, as a collective, are going to make this year, and this journey, magical...
Artem Akopyan, Alexis Anson, Reagan Ayala, Peyton Boggs, Zeph Cawley, Bryn Cianflone, Codie Clarke, Hannah Clinton, Reece Dennis, Avery Dowdy, Brayden Duce, Jorja Duerr, Lila Dufresne, Elena Embleton, Otto Gantz, Garren Gunderson, Paisley Hamilton, Ciara Hanley, Ellie Hattlestad, Kari Hattlestad, Cash Hawkes, Rhain Hollingsworth, Charlie Holmes, Jasmine Jimenez, Jordin Jones, Kiera Judy, Panni Kari, Jackson Kirkbride, Tula Lueck, Aniston Martz, Eleanore McClung, Alyvia Melton, Camilla Molina, Lily Monaco, Simon Nadl, Julio Nolte-Cuadrado, Kora Olsen, Tatum Ricklefs, Ryder Rodriguez, Taylor Seaton, Tim Sigloch, Lillian Simmeran, Oliver Simpkins, Eden Smith, Hannah Snyder, Sashi Sokol, Estella Sosa, Lydia Standaert, Kaylee Steward, Jayce Strain, Micah Strain, CJ Torres, James Tossberg, Greyson Weber, Andrew Weston, and Josie Wolfe.
Also, a huge thank you to the coaching staff of Christina Weidcamp, Patrick Hanley and volunteers Aaron Riley & Fred Huskey. The journey wouldn't be possible without them.
I hope I didn't miss anyone, but if I did, as I tell my players, failure is absolutely a part of eventual success.
I can’t wait to see where the journey with this group leads us.
We have a match today, Thurs 4/9, versus Corvallis. JV will play at the Westview courts, and Varsity will play at the HHS Courts. I encourage you all to come watch this amazing group of student athletes battle our neighbors, friends, & rivals, the Corvallis Blue Devils. Matches start at 3:00, and will probably run until around 7:00ish.
The 2026 Hamilton tennis team has another opportunity to create something special. I am certain we will. See you on the courts.
