AP Art Student Kylie Berk Hello! My name is Kylie Berk, and I'm a senior at Hamilton High School. This self portrait, entitled, "Hath God Really Said?" is a parallel to the Garden of Eden. Done in colored pencil, it features an unidentifiable cottonmouth and excludes the famously symbolic fruit of the Fall to portray my experiences of recurring doubt and combatant faith that I have been exploring in my portfolio this year. To me, art is life. A portrait of humanity, a glimpse of our turmoil and the order within it... art is both the vessel and the potter, and I believe every form of art is as beautiful as it is insightful. As Robin Williams once said, "Medicine, law, business, engineering... these are all noble pursuits, and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love... these are what we stay alive for."
