8th Grade DC Trip Day 5 (and last): Mount Vernon (George Washington's home)
8th Grade DC Trip Day 4 (yesterday): SUPER BUSY and I missed this post. LOTS of places after Gettysburg. National Archives, Smithsonian American History Museum, Smithsonian Natural History Museum, Dinner at Ben’s Chili Bowl (opened in 1958), Eisenhower Memorial, Washington Monument (cherry blossoms), FDR Memorial (cherry blossoms), MLK Memorial. So many places and not enough space to post all the pictures.
8th Grade DC Trip Day 4 am: Drive north to Gettysburg Battlefield in Pennsylvania.
8th Grade DC Trip Day 3 Part 3: 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and Air Force Memorial.
8th Grade DC Trip Day 3 (after lunch): Marine Corp Museum
8th Grade DC Trip Day 3 am: Early wake up for a 3 hour-ish ride to Thomas Jefferson's home in Charlottesville, Virginia. Monticello (look at the back of the nickel 😋) then lunch at Michie's Tavern. Historic restaurant since 1784.
8th Grade DC Trip Day 2 (post #3...after dinner): Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial (The Wall), Women’s Memorial, Korean Memorial. We got another view of Washington Monument and the Reflection Pool
8th Grade DC Trip Day 2 (lunch to dinner): Lunch at Pentagon City Fashion Centre, Holocaust Museum, The Capital , World War II Memorial

8th Grade DC Trip: Day 2 am - Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the unknown soldier, Eternal flame at JFK grave, Marine Corp Memorial
8th grade DC Trip Day 1: White House, National Portrait Gallery, Ford’s Theater, Drive by of Capital building (we will tour tomorrow), Dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and ended the day with a visit to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
Congratulations to the 208 HMS students who worked to make the high honor roll by achieving a 3.75 GPA or higher for the 2022-2023 school year! These students, and their families, were celebrated by HMS staff with breakfast this morning!

The HMS Track parent meeting is tonight at 6:30pm in the HMS auditorium. Any parents of students in 6th-8th grades interested in participating in track must attend. Practice begins April 3.
