HHS Parents and Students: MAP assessments for Freshmen and Sophomore students will be happening during Math and English classes May 6th-15th.

Congratulations to the Bronc Envirothon team for taking first place for the 4th year in a row at the State Competition this week in Great Falls!
The team, including Chloe Greek, Lauren Nelson, Kinga Kari, Taylor Bratvold and Taylor Rosenberger, took first place overall. Lauren Nelson won the Aquatics division. Each member of the team came home with a $500 gift card!
On the 2nd team of Payton Torres, Ashlynn Cross, Panni Kari, Alexis Anson, Laurel Stewart and alternate, Rhain Hollingsworth, Payton took first in the Wildlife division.
The winning team has the honor of representing Montana at the International Envirothon in upstate New York in July! Go Broncs!!!

Congrats to the HHS baseball on their great performances at the Frenchtown Showcase at Ogren Park! They beat Belgrade 10-4 on Friday and got another win over Polson today, 11-5. Go Broncs!!

Whirlwind of two days for the tennis team. JV in Polson. Varsity in Dillon. Here are the vital stats:
510+ miles on the bus
A 7:00am and a 6:15am departure
A 12 hour day, followed by a 14 hour day
JV - more wins than losses
Varsity boys and girls defeated Dillon and Park
48 student athletes got to play at least one match
Interaction with student-athletes from six different Montana schools
It was a glorious two days. It was also a long two days.
Slicing through the Big Hole Valley on the bus on night two, tired, listening to the excited buzz of the team, it hit me how important extracurricular activities are for our kids. It’s so much more than winning and losing, even though our society loves to put its focus there. Sports are important to their well-being and their sense of belonging. Sports are important for students to learn how to take risks and deal with adversity, and how to work toward a goal. They also teach, unequivocally, when done correctly, that the whole is always better than the sum of its parts.
I am so darn proud of the 48 student athletes on this team for how they treat each other, and also for how they treat the athletes, parents, coaches and fans from the other schools. I am beyond excited for the culture they are building for the future of this program.
I am also keenly aware of the opportunity I have to shape the lives of these young men and women, and the opportunity I have to allow them to shape mine.
Apologies for getting philosophical, perhaps it’s the English major in me, perhaps it was back to back early mornings and late nights. More likely, it’s just that I wish the best for this great group of kids, from the most decorated athlete to the kid taking a risk in joining a team in a sport they have never played.

The summer Keystone After School Program meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday, April 24th in the Daly Multipurpose Cafeteria.
All HHS Seniors are required to complete and present a Capstone Project that is based on their personal growth over the last four years. Their topics focused on current interests and passions, personal growth, and future growth and were something that the students want to continue exploring and growing in after they complete high school.
