Reminder: Monday, April 22 is a PD Day

All HHS Seniors are required to complete and present a Capstone Project that is based on their personal growth over the last four years. Their topics focused on current interests and passions, personal growth, and future growth and were something that the students want to continue exploring and growing in after they complete high school.
We had some ambitious projects from our seniors this year and have created a page detailing many of their projects. You can view photos and info on those projects here: https://www.hsd3.org/o/hhs/page/senior-capstone-projects

The HHS Advanced Studio art class participated in the annual ATR art contest this year. 77 paintings were submitted by students at schools from up and down the Bitterroot Valley. Hamilton did exceedingly well and almost swept the entire painting category. Layna Price took 4th place for her painting, "Treaties of Deception". Jackson Jessop took 3rd place with his painting, "Train Robbery". And, finally, Hannah Condos won 1st place with her painting, "Western Interior Seaway". Each student received an award for their work and prize money.
The last three years in a row, Hamilton High School has had a student win 1st place in the Painting category. Congratulations Advanced Studio Students! We are really proud of your hard work and incredible talent.

Update from Coach Dufresne about last week's JV matches in Darby:
The first JV match of the year is always one of my favorites; you have a number of players walking on the court for their first match. It’s a combination of nerves, excitement, and the unknown. It’s always a great day. What made this first JV match even better was that a number of varsity players spent the last day of their spring break in Darby supporting the team.
Sports are often measured in wins and losses, and by that metric we had a good day, winning over 70% of our matches. I like to measure the first JV match (well, any match really) in the courage to take risks, the determination to keep battling, the joy to be had, and the camaraderie to be shared. By those metrics, the day was 100% a success.
I hope the players had as good a day as I did. I hope they fall in love with this sport. I hope they learn life lessons through playing this silly game. And I hope it becomes a lifelong joy for them.
Can’t wait to see them on the courts again on May 15th in Polson.

Update from Coach Dufresne on last week's varsity tennis matches against Corvallis:
Thanks to mother nature, it was a wild day of tennis against Corvallis. We began warming up outdoors until just before the matches were set to begin when mother nature decided to rain on our parade for the third straight match this year.
Thanks to the generosity of the Canyons Athletic Club, we moved the matches indoors and began play at 2:00. We continued to play until after 9:00, when the last match finally came off the courts.
With only two courts, and a small viewing area with 60+ people watching, the players got to experience a divisional or state-like atmosphere. Adding to the pressure, scores began with a score of 2-2, and we played no-ads in an effort to speed up the matches. It was a great experience for the team, and they rose to the occasion. The girls team won a hard fought 4-3 victory, while the boys cruised to a 7-0 sweep. Both JV doubles teams (boys and girls) that played also got victories.
Thank you Corvallis for sticking around until every one of our players got a match in. Thank you to the players who stuck around to root on that final match. And again, a huge thank you to Jimmy Pinjuv and the Canyons Athletic Club for making the day possible.
We’ve had three matches this year, all of them shortened or canceled because of rain. Yet the team’s positive spirit remains undeterred. We’re hoping for better luck today as we take on Loyola in Missoula. The team is itching to play.
